Wool Felt Landscapes

 

A warm art project for wintry weather: wool felting. We usually create a few thumbnail landscapes with watercolour to give a selection of options before delving into the colourful balls of roving wool to choose matching shades.

All you require is some plastic baggies or bubble wrap, hand towels, warm soapy water, mesh (we use avocado or lemon mesh bags) and roving wool/fleece. Layer your towel and plastic on the table before pulling 'cotton candy' threads of wool, placing it horizontally and vertically to form a background. Cover with mesh. Douse in soapy water before rolling in towel and agitating.
