Sci Fri: Care of Venus Flytraps

 

 After reading Hungry Plants, we set out to make distilled water for our new plant friend, The Venus Flytrap. Creating distilled water was a little lesson in States of Matter; liquid and gas/vapor.

Since the flytraps are found in boggy marsh areas and grown in peat moss, they require constant moisture and lots of light. They feed from the bottom up, so once the distilled water was cool, we placed it in a shallow dish with the pot right inside and then watched as the water level decreased before our very eyes!
