Darwin: Volcanos turned Islands

 j

Four chemists live in residence here at Windy Acres. None of them ever miss an opportunity to mix acid and alkaline substances. We used our Darwin studies to learn about how the Galapagos Islands formed, along with the beautiful book Island by Jason Chin.

Since baking soda and vinegar is a staple for our chemistry labs, we switched up our acid by subbing in lemon. We were also advised to add a drop of dish soap to expand the life of the reaction. Great tip!!
