NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month
November was our first foray into the world of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The organization offers free workshops for home or school, to participate in activities to both prepare you for novel writing and help you along the way.
We started in September with a weekly activity to prepare characters, plot and settings. Mapping out around 10 days for the prep work, before November, allowed the big kids to chart out all of their ideas before getting down to the work of word counts and daily writing in November. The ultimate goal is to write the majority of your novel in one month.
