Pines: Nature Prints

You do have to purchase special light-sensitive paper for this activity, but it lasts a long time and it's great to introduce with each season.

The kids chose a selection of cedar boughs, as they seemed to be flat enough to work with for this art project. Then they arranged them in tree and wreath patterns. We rested a piece of transparent plastic overtop to hold the boughs in place and set them in a sunny window. They took a lot longer than our summer prints (two days!) before we noticed the paper darkening around the cedar.

Once you remove your foliage, run the paper gently under water to stop the process of print-making.
