Lunuar New Year: Tea, Sumi E & Poetry

Every Lunar New Year we incorporate a little ink art in the style of Sumi E. We found a tutorial for creating dragons, fitting for this years zodiac.

After our Sumi E, the big kids were challenged to create poems based on Dragons, including alliteration, acronym, Haiku, cinquain, colour, five senses, adjective and list poems.

"Once there was an egg the colour of the bluest skies.

Once there was a mother who protected the egg.

Once there was three people who wanted the egg.

Once there was a net who caught the mother.

Once there was a question from the mother to another creature.

Once there was a beat of wings and then silence, complete silence."
