Magnets: Gravity-defying Screw (Ferromagnetism & Magnetic Field)

 

While the little kids were working on Magnatile Challenges, the older ones were working on learning about ferro magnetics and fields. Their challenge was to create a temporary structure that would support a gravity-defying metallic object, in this case, a single screw.

They had to consider objects that are ferromagnetic (iron, cobalt, nickel) and also the range of the magnetic field, to hold the screw in place...going upwards!
