Viking Study: Wool Felted Satchels

We're learning about the Bronze Age of the Viking times; the making of the metal using 90% copper and 10% tin to produce a sturdier metal and what that meant for society and livlihoods. But the Bronze Age also introduced woven fabric, in addition to the age old animal skins.

We had some llama roving wool in a beautiful flecked brown. So we took a tutorial and worked our wool into felted satchels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raDed09uJ0o

Each of the kids was able to participate with a little help and a lot of elbow grease. One of them even made her own button out of wood. Stunning!!
