Earth Study: Water Wheel

We have made water wheels before, we changed this one up a wee bit for the littlest scientist, by using an apple on the axel. Then we made mill blades by cutting a plastic water bottle around the cylinder center before slicing them into blades, just big enough and sharp enough to fit around the apple.

Poke the apple through a chopstick and you have your mill ready.
To balance the mill, we took a plastic vinegar bottle, cut off the top half and notched little spots to rest the chopstick.

Now all we had to do was just add water!

Next stop? Out to the forest to find the right log for water troughs....
