Egg-Speriments: Bouncy Egg

The incredible, likely-not-edible Bouncy Egg.

The wee ones placed an egg in vinegar for three days. As soon as the shell makes contact with vinegar, simple science begins: bubbles start forming on the shell as the calcium is broken down.

After a day, the egg has swollen in size and starts to feel a little soft.

By day two and three, the eggshell has been replaced by the inner membrane, swollen and incredibly bouncy. Once they got their bounce on....they insisted on dissection. The yolk remained intact, the membrane easily slipped away in a solid sheath and the white remained a gooey clear puddle.
