Oceans: Vibration, Sound Waves & Echolocation
While we were learning about dolphins, whales and echolocation, we conducted a mini experiment on sound, learning how sound is vibration.
First we covered a bowl tightly in cling film. We place some salt granules on top and a loud MP3 player in the covered bowl. The granules did vibrate and bounce slightly, but we were seeking a stronger reaction. So off to the car we went!
The bowl was placed on the dashboard and the kids blared the base as loudly as possible. This time the reaction was what we had hoped for.
