Money Study: Coins
After taking a virtual tour of The Royal Canadian Mint and The Canadian Bank Note (both different places in different provinces!) via Popular Mechanics for Kids, the kids were challenged to design their own coins.
They played Obverse (heads) and Reverse (tails) to learn how each side has important historical and political information, as well as the value and year of the coin.
Once they designed their coins, they drew them with hot glue to cause the raised effect, and covered in aluminum foil.
They also took part in 'stamping' chocolate coins, to get a feel for the real deal (but much yummier version!)
