Batik Pumpkins

 

So stunning and super simple. My favourite kind of project!

Batik Pumpkins

Take a white piece of copy paper.

Sketch pumpkins from still life or your imagination. Add a horizon line. 

Using oil pastels, colour in your pumpkins, adding dark and light shading, but leaving out any outlines (those will be covered by black ink.) Above the horizon line, add vertical colour blocks with shades of the sky. Below the horizon line, use the side of your pastel to colour in the tabletop. Make sure to leave shadows beneath the pumpkins.

Lastly, use India/Black Ink to cover your drawing. Don't be scared! It will cover your work completely.

Rinse under water, until your oil images are revealed and the spaces are covered in black!

For texture, crumple up your paper several times.
