Snow & Ice: Ice-cavating
Simple, exploratory science at it's best. Very little prep is needed, just lots of recyclable containers to freeze your Ice Age specimen.
Collect tetra and plastic containers. Cut as needed to allow for easy access. Using plastic animals and toys, place one (or several) in each container and fill with water. Leave outdoors to freeze.
Once frozen, set the table with cookie sheets for discovery. Observe how the ice melts, patterns in the ice, trapped air, cracking and methods to melt the ice.
