India: The Ganges & Ganesha

 

Thanks to an incredible tutorial Ganesha Statue, our Clay Ganesha's were a smashing success! 

Wondering how to learn about The Ganges River, such an important religious and environmental body of water in India, we found this book at the library Ganesha Goes Green

It perfectly captured the two major themes of the Ganges, Hindu tradition and environment. So in a sort of impromptu fashion, I pulled out some packages of clay and looked up a tutorial for Ganesha Statues.

The kids all were involved, molding and shaping their elephant-headed god for 2 hours to come up with some incredible, eco-friendly replicas of Ganesha.
