India: Henna

 

The beautiful and meditative art of henna, was a very popular cultural activity. Henna is a natural plant extract that stains the skin to reveal a reddish-brown pigment once dried and cleaned off of the skin. We enhanced the activity with henna oil, which smells incredible and deepens the colour. Stain lasts for several days and is deeper in areas of the body that are warmer (such as the palm.) If you can allow it to dry in the sunshine, even better.
