Bushcraft: Mapping & Navigation

LOVE LOVE LOVE map-making! I love when the inner cover of a book is illustrated in a map of the fantasy world we're about to dive into! Map-making whether it's of actual or fictional locations is a dreamy and educational activity, learning scale, perspective, detail and imagination.

Check out your home on Google Maps. Trace the birds-eye view with major landmarks; roads, streams, house, lane etc. Use this as a guide-to-scale for further details. Our kids have even named special areas over the years such as Coyote Corner or Three Pines. Label as desired. You can laminate and use as a Scavenger Hunt Map or even a postcard of your property.

You can magnify mapping even further, by drawing a map of your childs bedroom, your garden or studio space.
