Literature Study: Neverending Story

Our first Literature Study of the year was for a story I was scared of as a child; The Neverending Story. I didn't even know the book existed, I just assumed it was a movie meant to freak me out! However, as with most classic childrens lit that I have come across in my adult life, I'm struck by it's sincerity and timeless messages, not to mention it's incredible characters, including the previously dreaded Luck Dragon.

So in the summer, we set out to start The Neverending Story written by German author, Michael Ende and translated into English. It only took a few pages to be drawn into the bookshop where Bastion stole the story and devoured it in the school attic, only to become the main character in the adventures.

The older kids prepared several projects, based on the book.

Character Sketch & Legend

This book is chocked full of fantastical characters. The project was to pick a character, paint them as you imagine them to appear and write a legend about them.

Fantastica Map

Draw the Map of Fantastica with the various places that the antagonists travel through.

Places of Interest

Choose one of the locations and paint a scene of how it would appear.

Silver City Armour

Design the silver armour of the Amarganthians.
