Spring: Sunflower Artist Study (Van Gogh)

 

Due for a refresh, we removed our 4x5 canvas from the studio and set to work recreating art from the masters: Van Gogh Sunflowers.

This canvas is several decades old, originally with a dated, dark design. We painted over the original with the intent to add new works every few years. Flowers  and Owls.

After much experience in the paint department, the best bet for your buck is to purchase hardware store sample pots, for under $5. You can buy as is (white) to prime the piece and then have them tint the rest of the pots in the palette you have chosen.

We also frame with 1x2 pine boards, measured and stapled on their sides to fit snugly around the canvas frame. Stain as desired.
